What is Bankroll Management?
Bankroll management is the discipline of controlling how much you bet relative to your total betting funds. It's the single most important factor in long-term betting success — even a profitable strategy will go broke without proper bankroll management.
Understanding Unit Sizing
A "unit" is a fixed percentage of your bankroll that you risk per bet. If your bankroll is $1,000 and your unit size is 2%, one unit equals $20. As your bankroll grows, your unit size grows with it. As it shrinks, your units shrink — this naturally protects you during losing streaks and accelerates growth during winning ones.
Choosing Your Unit Size
1-2% (Conservative) — Best for beginners or when you're still developing your edge. You can survive long losing streaks without significant damage. A 10-bet losing streak only costs 10-20% of your bankroll.
2-3% (Standard) — The sweet spot for most experienced bettors. Balances growth potential with downside protection. This is where most professional UFC bettors operate.
3-5% (Aggressive) — Only for bettors with a proven, verified edge and high confidence in their selections. The higher growth comes with significantly more variance — a bad week can be painful.
The Power of Consistency
This calculator assumes consistent performance over time. In reality, results will vary month to month. The key takeaway is that even a small edge (2-5% ROI per bet) compounds into significant profit over hundreds of bets. Patience and discipline are what separate profitable bettors from everyone else.
